Full-Scale Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standard (CFATS) Exercise

History was made at this session - one of the nation's first Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standard (CFATS) emergency exercises, was held at ESS EXPO.08 on Monday, April 14. This event featured a 60-foot car explosion, terrorists, multiple bombs, SWAT, fire and police teams, hostages and more, and it will take place at the City of Chandler's training site.

This entire exercise was hosted by ESS and was managed from an off-site EOC using one software platform – Essential Emergency™. Attendees witnessed how responders use ESS' powerful Crisis Management solution, to streamline operations at concurrent emergencies, using modeling and simulation data from the L-3 Fusion system to communicate to the command center, where Essential Emergency was deployed.

Teams from the City of Chandler and City of Tucson; and assisted by experts from ESS and its Crisis Management partners SRA, SAIC, L-3 Communications, UAV and Double F Productions created an unforgettable exercise where responders demonstrated the benefits of Essential Emergency™. In addition, representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) were in attendance at ESS EXPO.08 to discuss the importance of public/private partnerships at emergency exercises to strengthen preparedness in case of attacks against chemical processing facilities. DHS regards chemical processing facilities as possible targets for terrorist attacks.

Those attendees who pre-registered for the exercise were able to observe the live simulation at the City of Chandler's training facility. For individuals who were not able to attend the live exercise, we broadcasted it live at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort where attendees viewed the exercise from the convenience of a conference room.

This was one session you didn't want to miss.
